ABOUT
Most folks call me Miry.
I was born on an island I wish I knew better, in the city of Santa Clara. A few months before I turned six my parents put our family on a raft and braved the Florida Straits so I could grow up free. The significance of their choice and that peril was never lost on me. For more than half my life it was the biggest motivating factor behind each of my achievements. I'm not sure what, but something changed the year I turned 25. There began a decade-long existential crisis from which I've only this year begun to emerge.
Meanwhile, I've made great friends, gotten married, given birth (at home) three times, been a teacher, become a lawyer, moved from Miami to Live Oak, oh yeah...and decided it's time to return to basics. All this, is what the blog's about: our family's journey of learning through homesteading.
